Welcome to the Laser Processing Research Centre (LPRC) at The Universty of Manchester, United Kingdom.
November 2011 - KELAS workshop held
As part of the KE-LAS programme a lunchtime seminar was given to managers from the nuclear industry on 17 November at the Energus Centre in Workington. Mr Roger Hardacre from the University of Manchester gave a talk on the use of lasers for cleaning and decommissioning and distributed a paper from Professor Lin Li the inventor of the laser based scabbling technique. Dr Wei Guo gave a talk on the use of lasers for welding, drilling and coating in engineering applications. The third speaker was Mr Stan Wilford from IPG Photonics who showed the delegates the new technologies emerging from fibre laser systems which allow high power to be delivered remotely in many applications.
The seminar was well received and led to many discussions over lunch
Invitation to the 37th International MATADOR Conference
It gives us great pleasure to invite you to the 37th International MATADOR Conference to be held in Manchester 25th – 27th July, 2012. | 50-nm resolution microsphere nanoscope demostratedMarch 2011 - Our micro nano team, in collobration with Data Storage Institute and National University of Singapore scientists, has developed world's first 50 nm resolution white light nanoscope. The paper 'Optical virtual imaging at 50-nm lateral resolution with a white light nanoscope' [pdf] was published in Nature Communications on March 1, 2011, which has received very good public interests and media cover, including BBC, ScienceDaily, New York Times, Daily Mail, Independent, Australian BC and a large number of science and engineering websites. |
